Barb Pierce, CCS-P, ACS-EM is the Coding and Reimbursement Director with Practice Business Consultants, Inc. Barb has extensive knowledge in the areas of coding and billing. Her strengths include an extensive knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding as it is applied in a medical office. She is often asked to perform compliance audits and evaluations for practices and clinics of various specialties. Barb has worked with a variety of clients performing medical record reviews and education.

As a presenter for ongoing chart auditing workshops sponsored by Decision Health, she has become a recognized national speaker on the CMS/AMA documentation guidelines. Most recently, she has developed the ACS-EM certification exam and study guide for the Board of Advanced Medical Coding, where she also serves as the E/M advisor to the Board.

The following are ideas for seminar topics that can be elaborated upon and/or broken down into more specific issues. For example, CPT Coding could have two sessions, one for primary care and one for specialties. Same for E/M documentation guidelines or chart auditing. There may be an interest in a session for a specific area of CPT such as the E/M codes. Several of these are intended as half-day or full-day seminars, but could be offered in multiple parts or condensed into overviews.
